Tim Cook Ranked as One of the Most Influential Tech CEOs Globally

A recent survey has uncovered surprising findings regarding employee satisfaction with tech CEOs. The results indicate that a staggering 83 percent of employees approve of Tim Cook’s performance as Apple’s CEO. In contrast, Linda Yaccarino, the chief of X, received one of the lowest approval ratings among tech CEOs, with only 4 percent of employees expressing approval. This means that a mere four out of every hundred employees viewed her leadership as impactful or beneficial for the company.

The survey was conducted by Blind, a social media platform aimed at anonymous verified workers to create a community. It currently has around 9 million users. Based on personnel feedback, the survey determined the approval rating of 103 CEOs. The results were compiled after a survey of 13,171 verified professionals in the United States. Each respondent was asked one question: “Do you approve or disapprove of the way your CEO does his job?”

According to Blind’s blog post, “CEOs from the e-commerce, financial services and technology industries are the most popular CEOs in the US.”

Technical CEOs get varying approval ratings

While the average approval rating for tech CEOs was found to be 32 percent, it also includes the highest-rated CEO as well as one of the lowest. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang received the highest approval rating at 96 percent. This means that nearly every verified Nvidia employee approved of Huang’s job as head of the company.

Among the technical CEOs, Apple’s Tim Cook ranked next, and four out of five employees gave him the thumbs up. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi also ranked high with 68 percent employee approval.

However, CEOs of large technology companies did not receive convincing approval. Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg received 45 percent, while Microsoft’s Satya Nadella received the approval of only three out of ten voters. Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Amazon CEO Andy Jassy fared even worse, with 26 percent and 10 percent respectively. However, no technical CEO fared worse than Yaccarino.

According to the report, one of the reasons for the low rating of technology leaders may be related to the recent mass layoffs seen in the technology industry.
